Hitachi ID Releases ID-Archive 5.0
ID-Archive 5.0 offers more secure, robust management of sensitive passwords across over 70 types of systems.
Calgary, Canada -- April 24, 2008 -- Hitachi ID Systems, Inc., a leading provider of identity management software, today announced the general availability of ID-Archive 5.0. ID-Archive 5.0 builds on technology in Hitachi ID's previous ID-Archive releases and from the next generation Hitachi ID Management Suite to offer even more secure and robust infrastructure for managing sensitive passwords.
The updated software was developed in response to customer feedback and an ever-increasing market demand for solutions to securely manage privileged passwords, including passwords for local administrator accounts, service accounts and login IDs used by one application to sign into another.
"By year-end 2010, more than 50% of large enterprises will use SAPM tools to manage passwords for shared accounts," according to an April 9th, 2008 Gartner report entitled: "Market Overview: Shared-Account/Software-Account Password Management Tools."
ID-Archive 5.0 Highlights:
ID-Archive 5.0 incorporates significant architectural changes:
- The internal data storage technology has been replaced. Customers
must now install one of the following database engines, to be used
as the internal ID-Archive data repository:
- Oracle 10 Enterprise Edition.
- Microsoft SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition.
- Oracle 10 Express Edition (available at no charge from Oracle)
- Microsoft SQL 2005 Express Edition (available at no charge from Microsoft)
- Improved scalability, with proven ability to push up to 500,000 new passwords to target devices, daily. This is accomplished with just three Windows/Intel servers in a multi-master replicated configuration.
- The scheduler that pushes new passwords out to target systems has been enhanced, and supports time-of-day and day-of-week restrictions.
- The user interface has been rebranded to reflect the Hitachi ID company name and has been improved in many ways.
"Privileged password management is an increasingly important component of organizations' identity management strategy. ID-Archive meets this need and addresses the most critical technical requirements: high availability, data protection and interoperability with the full spectrum of customer infrastructure, including workstations, servers, applications and network devices," said Idan Shoham, Hitachi ID CTO.
Free ID-Archive 5.0 evaluation software is available for download. Prospective customers are encouraged to contact a Hitachi ID sales representative to arrange for a trial.
Customers currently using earlier versions of ID-Archive are encouraged to contact their account representative to arrange for an upgrade.
