New, powerful version includes enhancements and new functionality
M-Tech Mercury Information Technology today announced the release of a new and extremely powerful version of P-Synch390.
P-Synch390 1.2.0 provides many new customization options and enhancements for continuous operation. New stand-alone APIs interface with P-Synch390 to provide new functionality.
P-Synch390 now supports inbound requests that allow a P-Synch administrator to, in one step, expire a password for a specified user ID, or reset a password and expire it. It also allows the administrator to enable or disable a user, or check the user's current status.
"The new features included in P-Synch390 1.2.0 address requests by both current and prospective customers," said Mr Jim Lautner, P-Synch390 Engineering and Support Manager.
P-Synch390 1.2.0 introduces a number of new features and enhancements, including:
- The option to have P-Synch390 attempt to connect with the P-Synch server at startup every five minutes, rather than terminating the P-Synch address space if the P-Synch server is initially unavailable.
- The ability to dynamically change the number of listener tasks without requiring a subsystem restart.
- Simpler configuration for inbound-only or outbound-and-inbound (transparent synchronization with an OS390 trigger) operation.
- The ability to indicate whether inclusion / exclusion list processing is activated for inbound or outbound requests, or both.
- The ability to run a dynamic connection test to the P-Synch server.
- Greater control over the status and contents of the ADMINIDS list and the INLIST/EXLIST lists. Operator commands can be used to add or remove entries dynamically, deactivate and reactivate the lists, and reload the list contents from the source dataset(s).
- Support for an additional return code in the PSNCUX01 installation exit to indicate to P-Synch390 that reset or resetexpire processing should not continue for the current user ID/password combination.
- The ability to customize the list of user IDs returned to the P-Synch server as a result of a user list request.
- Support for new inbound pushpass protocols expire, resetexpire, enable (unlock), disable (lock), and isenabled.
- Enhancements to P-Synch390 socket error recovery and extensions to socket processing capabilities.
- A new stand-alone API that allows a site to trigger outbound password strength validation and synchronization requests to the P-Synch server outside the scope of any security product new password exits.
- A new API that allows RACF sites to determine if a user ID/password combination will pass all the local system password rules for RACF. This API can be used in the PSNCUX01 exit to reject a password reset event if it would fail the normal RACF rule tests for the given user ID.
