We are a cybercafe in CBD Auckland, New Zealand. We have 20 machines made up of Power Macs and Windows machines.

We offer pre-press quality printing available on our FujiXerox colour laser printer. All the machines are served by Samba and netatalk. We use Linux exclusively on our Alpha and Duo Pentium Pro web, printing, file and proxy servers.



Net Central Cybercafe Ltd. uses Linux for the following functions:

  • X-Windows server (runs applications, possibly exports display)

  • Samba server for a network of PCs.

  • Print spooler using lpd (Unix, NFS clients)
  • Print spooler using samba (PC clients)

• Network management:
  • Internet or WAN router.
• Electronic mail server:
  • POP-3 server.
  • IMAP server.
  • SMTP server (sendmail, others).
  • SMTP mail router.
• Network services provided to local users:
  • HTTP (World-Wide Web) server or cache.
  • ``Regular'' (user-ID and password required) ftp server.
  • Anonymous ftp server.
  • Accepts telnet connections.
  • Services finger requests.
